In life, especially with everything going on in the world, it can feel as though we’re just aimlessly waiting. Waiting on a job offer, waiting to hear from someone you like (can’t relate lmao), waiting to go outside – but what do you do when you wait on God?
Often it us hard for us to ‘let go and let God’ as popularly said, but we know that God works on His timing and not ours.
So below, here are ten things to do while you wait patiently on God. I hope they help you the way they help me.
- Believe that God Hears Your Cries
When going through tough times, it can be hard believing that God can hear your cries. It is said that anything we ask according to His will he hears us and we know that if He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him [see 1 John 5:14-15].
He hears you. He sees you. You are never alone – keep praying.
- Expect the Unexpected
We’ve all heard the quote ‘expect the unexpected’, but when it comes to God that statement couldn’t be truer. As people, we always make our own plans.. plans to travel, to grow but God is the one who organises our steps [see Proverbs 16:9].
Be reminded that God can do way more than we have even imagined possible yet alone asked for [see Ephesians 3:20].
- Hope in His Word
You see the Bible? It is full of gems – overflowing in fact and when you’re feeling down, they can be a great source of hope. When the world gets you down, hope in His word and wait on Him [see Psalms 130].
Wait on the Lord.
- Trust not in Your Own Understanding
Now this one is pretty self explanatory. Life doesn’t make sense, sometimes the situations we’re in don’t make sense, but know that God will always direct your paths, as long as you acknowledge Him and lean not on your own understanding [see Proverbs 3:5-6].
- Be Patient
There is nothing harder to do than to wait on God – but the Bible reminds us to wait patiently, to cease from anger and more importantly not to fret [see Psalms 37:7-8].
God has a plan for you [see Jeremiah 29:11], be patient and allow it to unfold.

- Take Courage
With everything going on in the world, it seems as though putting on a brave face is the only thing we know how to do. Remember the Word tells us to be of good courage and God will strengthen your heart [see Psalms 27:14].
- Experience God’s Goodness
Everyday seems to blur into one and it can be hard to find time to pause and reflect on how good God is, but I urge you to try. The Bible says the Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him [see Lamentations 3:25].
Take some time out during the next week to really try and see God’s goodness in the world amongst the chaos.
- Wait for God’s Promises
We have all heard the song “He’s Able” but how many of us actually believe that God will fulfil every promise He has made us? The same way Abraham believed in God’s promise [see Romans 4:20-21], is the same way we should. God always comes through.
- Pray
In times like these, prayer is key. You already know God hears you, and you know He will give you what you need, so pray. Through the good times and the bad times, talk to God, He is listening [see Jeremiah 29:12].
- Wait for Your Blessing
God has a blessing with your name on it – but do you trust Him enough to wait and see it happen right before your eyes? He will always ensure you have what you need [see 2 Corinthians 9:8] so why worry? God has got you, always.
I hope these help you the way they have helped me since the year started..
love,
S♡
