#What’sInTheWord | Who Does God Say You Are?

Do you know who you are? In fact, do you know who God says you are?

Because even if you don’t the enemy does, and believe me he will use this world, society and even social media to confuse you and make you second guess your identity.

We all have moments where we feel less than, not enough or simply just lost about ourselves and our worth. Some of us look for the reminder and validation of our identity from other sources, be it social media or even your friends/partner, however God will never switch up on you, so why not look to him?

Some of us never take the time out to really deep who God says we are, but I hope that the next few verses give you an insight into what God sees when He sees you.

1. You’re His Child

My mum always tells me that even when I have kids, no matter how old I get to, I will still be her child. As grown as I believe myself to be, no matter where I live or travel, she always welcomes me back and cares for me like nothing has happened.. and this is the same for God, no matter how far you go, what you do, as long as you believe in Him you are His child.

”But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God.” John 1:12 [NLT]

2. You’re Chosen

We all have a favourite thing, could be a favourite jacket or fork or even a song and for the lucky few, you probably have a favourite person. Yet to God, we are His favourite, He chose us, which means He has a plan (see Jeremiah 29:11), a purpose and need for you to be here. So remember, when the world may not involve you or choose you, God chose you.

“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.“ 1 Peter 2:9 [NLT]

3. You’re a Conqueror

Let’s be honest, this life feels like a battle sometimes. Some days are overwhelming, everything seems draining and the worst bit is sometimes you can’t see past the darkness you’re currently in. It is so so important to remember that that situation is temporary and that God would never put you in a situation you couldn’t come out of better than when you went in. You are a conqueror.

“No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.“ Romans 8:37 [NLT]

4. You’re Forgiven

We all make mistakes. Some are bigger than others, and some hurt more than others, but where the world may be slow to forgive you, God does. The TL may not forget your past tweets, but God? He forgives your past life, your lie yesterday, everything – He loves you the same way.

“He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.” Ephesians 1:7 [NLT]

5. You’re Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

It can be hard to feel good about yourself when everywhere you turn you see someone who is younger, more successful with more money doing what you believe you should be doing, looking how you feel you deserve to look. Remember, God doesn’t make ugly, you are who you are because God felt that this world needed a you. His works are always beautiful, they made you.

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well” Psalm 139:14 [NIV]

⠀⠀ ⠀⠀

If ever in life you feel as though you don’t know who you are and people and the things of this world let you down (because let’s be honest they just might at some point), remember that God sees you and He values you more than anything in this world. I hope that if you ever need reminding, this blog will do just that.
